Life Long Learning
The Ename Center specialises in Life Long Learning. We experiment with courses and new learning environments to make heritage more accessible, especially in the domain of adult education.
We have evolved from a ‘knowing society’ to a ‘learning society’. Because of the excessive growth of internet never before in the history of mankind has so much information instantly been available to so many people. Life expectation increases and during our lifes we are all longer active then before. A constant adaptation to new applications and possibilities has become common good. In the future, heritage and culture will become more important in the economic, social and cultural development of our society. Therefore, also the heritage community should prepare and adapt to these evolutions.
Course for guides
“The prehistory of the Kemmelberg” is the first complete basic course for guides that has been developed by the Ename Center. The course aims at a new landscape experience of the site of the Kemmelberg by targeted information about the archaeological past that is linked to specific spots within the landscape. Insights into how best to interpret the site to create an optimal experience, have fed the course.
Grundtvig: Experiential Learning in Historical Sites and Musea
“Experiential Learning in Historical sites and museums” is a EU Grundtvig partnership project which creates a network of cultural organisations, museums, public institutions and training centres in Europe willing to share experiences and different aspects of developing experiential learning activities in museums or historical sites in rural areas.
Apart from the Ename Center, partners are situated in Romania, Greece, Turkey and Italy.
