ICOMOS International Committee on Interpretation and Presentation (ICIP)

ICIP is one of the international scientific committees within ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites).  It was established during the editing process of the Ename Charter in 2005.   The further follow-up of the charter was at once accepted as one of the committee’s tasks.

The intention of the International Committee on Interpretation and Presentation is to establish the objectives and principles concerning the authenticity, the intellectual integrity, the social responsibility and the respect for the cultural significance and context when interpreting and presenting heritage sites.  The committee brings together people to discuss these themes by organizing, among other things, workshops and panel discussions during colloquiums.
