The Ename Center for Public Archaeology and Heritage Presentation was founded in 1998 as a non-profit association to develop and disseminate expertise relating to the public interpretation and sustainable development of archaeological sites, museums, historical monuments and landscapes both in Flanders and at partner sites throughout the world.
The Ename Center Grew out of the experience gained by the Ename 974 Project, a comprehensive program of archaeological excavation, architectural restoration, multimedia interpretation, and public outreach based in the village of Ename, East-Flanders, Belgium. The joint work of the Ename Center, the Ename 974 Project, and the Provincial Archaeological Museum in site presentation has received support from the European Commission and has received awards for innovative technologies of archaeological interpretation. |
